Survival Following Transplant

                                              Intestinal & Multi-Visceral Transplantation: Version 7.0

Survival Following Intestine Transplant

Recent survival data are more encouraging than the UNOS data would suggest. With additional experience, improved follow-up, improved anti-bacterial treatments, improved anti-viral regimens including better matching of CMV- and EBV- recipients with EBV- and CMV- donors, and the use of newer immunosuppressive regimens utilizing tacrolimus as the main immunosuppressive drug, one-year survivals as high as 85 percent are being reported for patients receiving isolated intestinal grafts.
